No Autographs Please!

Not every rock or pop star loves being approached by fans or asked to sign autographs.
Some are uncomfortable with their signatures being sold on eBay or just don't want to be bothered during their private time.

Some people understand this and respect their need for privacy. Others argue that it's the fans that make the star, so the least they can do is be gracious and/or sign their darned name. And what difference does it make to them - some of whom make millions - if someone makes a few bucks off their signature?

Artist Pablo Picasso was supposedly known to pay his bar tab by doodling drawings on cocktail napkins, knowing full well whoever held them would make far more than the price of a few drinks. He's also, maybe apocryphally, said to have just handed these out to bystanders from time to time. Now that's generous.

Here are some examples of stars who have either refused to sign or allegedly been downright rude - with a couple of stories thrown in just because they were kind of interesting. So, what do you think? Should stars have to sign autographs? Or has someone like Ringo Starr earned a pass after all these years?

No Autographs Please: Unfriendly Stars

Boy George: According to OK! magazine, Culture Club star Boy George has warned fans to stay away from him at airports and hotels after a group complained he was rude when they approached. He wrote on Twitter, ''Airports are out, sorry! Turn up at airports I will probably be unfriendly. Hotels are our temporary homes, so same applies!I don't have a fan face or poker face! Common sense applies at all times! Everything is about timing, I wouldn't approach Bowie in a cafe or on the toilet! I'm not going to develop a phoney persona, I will always be honest!''
