Katy Perry recording angry songs about Russell Brand
Katy Perry is recording new album, working through emotional fallout from Russell Brand divorce
February 22, 2012
Katy Perry is taking all of the hurt and anger she feels following the collapse of her marriage to British movie star Russell Brand and pouring it into her new album.
Digital Spy reports that a close friend of Perry's has dished to the UK's Grazia magazine that Perry is working through her emotions by channelling them into the follow up to her smash hit disc Teenage Dream.
"Katy goes from being angry one minute to upset the next," the anonymous source tells the mag. "She really is laying everything out there in her music, which she says has been extremely therapeutic. This new album will certainly be explosive."
Perry and Brand split in December after marrying in October 2010.
Earlier this month the international pop superstar performed her new single 'Part of Me' at the Grammys and changed the lyrics, seemingly to send a message to Brand.
"You can keep the diamond ring. It don't mean nothing anyway," Perry sang. "You chewed me up and spit me out / Like I was poison in your mouth. You ripped me off, your love was cheap / Was always tearing at the seams."
"Katy's performance was intended to stick two fingers up at Russell," the source claims.
