Kenny Loggins says he won't see a dime from the new Footloose movie, even though it still features his smash hit theme song from the original film.

Loggins' hit Footloose sat at number one on the charts for three weeks back in 1984 when it was featured in the Kevin Bacon teen drama.

Now the song has been covered by country music star Blake Shelton for the film's remake, but Loggins tells Access Hollywood the contract he signed almost thirty years ago means he'll get no new cash as a result.

"They have a clause in the original deal that says any sequels are covered in the original deal," Loggins told Access with a shrug.

The singer says that though he wasn't consulted on the new version of the song, he knows the studio went through a lot of work to do it justice.

"They tried ten different versions of the song and they kept recutting it because they wanted to capture that spirit of the original – and Blake came the closest," he explains. "Blake took it a step into being more country. I liked that."

Even though Shelton's version of Footloose is the first single from the movie's soundtrack, Loggins says he was surprised to hear the familiar strains of the original when he recently attended the movie's premiere.

"What I didn't expect was that they used my version of it at the beginning of the movie. I thought they would use Blake's version. So it was the same shock value as when I saw the first one."
